At Op Zestien, you come for the peace and stay for the atmosphere.
Welcome to Op Zestien – our cozy B&B in a genuine, traditional Wieringer farmhouse, right in the heart of Hippolytushoef. Our building at Zandburen 16 breathes history: built around 1890, rebuilt in 1946, and for many years a place where farm life and village life went hand in hand. Later, it even served as a riding school, which made it a lively place in the village throughout the years.
When we got hold of this special farmhouse, we knew immediately: this will become a place where everyone feels welcome. After years of waiting for permits – and a considerable delay due to corona – we didn’t let ourselves be discouraged. With Wieringer down-to-earth spirit and a generous dose of love, we built our dream step by step.
With us, you won’t find mass tourism, but a homely atmosphere. A snug room, the sound of the birds outside, the alpacas in the meadow, a cup of coffee or tea on the terrace, and always time for a friendly chat. Here you can still taste a bit of old Wieringen, but with the comfort of today.

Alpacas & Cats
On our farmyard live three special housemates: Sjaakie (light brown), Sjonnie (white), and Kees (dark brown). These three alpaca males bring life to the place and each has their own character. Sometimes they watch curiously from a distance, sometimes they seem a bit shy. But as soon as they notice that you have a treat with you, they turn into real charmers.
Their favorite snacks? The peels of the apples we use for our freshly baked apple pie, crunchy carrots, and now and then a piece of bread. Those apple peels in particular are irresistible – they even come running for them.
Feeding the boys is always a cheerful moment. Making calm contact, offering a handful of treats, and before you know it, the three of them are standing right next to you, enjoying themselves.
Besides the alpacas, two cats also live with us. Poekie, our orange cuddlebug, loves to drop by on the terrace for a scratch on his head. Zwabber, a beautiful gray cat, is still a little shy, but who knows, maybe one day she’ll carefully come take a look. Together they add a bit of extra homeliness to the farmyard.
